The interest in a generalized reduction of the environmental impact of Trentino viticulture formally dates back to the early 1990s, when the adoption of the first integrated production guidelines was promoted. Since then, the Trentino wine sector has embarked on a virtuous path that has recently led more than 5,000 winegrowers to join the national quality system for integrated production (SQNPI). In the thirty years since the first pioneering experiences of integrated production, virtuous practices aimed at safeguarding individual and collective health have generally increased, as well as the sensitivity of producers and consumers to the environmental impact of agricultural activity. The introduction of technological innovations in plant protection strategies, and the consequences of climate change on the biocoenosis of the vineyard, have sometimes led to significant variations in the relative importance of the biotic adversities that exist on Trentino viticulture. We report on the evolution of the pest control strategies applied to better adapt to the changed agronomic and regulatory context and to simultaneously promote higher levels of sustainability
