Abstract
The Alto Garda Trentino area is characterized by around 500 hectares of olive groves with a good quality oil production. Heavy attacks of olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae, Rossi) were registered in recent few years. During the last decade the most important control strategy involved the use of “attract & kill” tecnique and one or two insecticides treatments in case of outbreaks. The study project named “Innovazione e Ricerca per l’Olio Extra vergine dell’Alto Garda Trentino” aimed to transfer innovation and knowledge about the insect biology and ecology, the population dynamics and the availability of the modern tools and strategies for the management of the olive fruit fly. Preliminary results showed Attract and Kill technique, as mass trapping, could represent a valid alternative to chemical insecticides especially in urban sites where no other kind of treatment was possible. Mass trapping showed first interesting results and a potential use as control tecnique of the first olive fly generation occurring in spring from residuals olivesFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
