A recent assessment of progress toward achieving the 2010 targets of the Convention on Biological Diversity concluded that most indicators showed a decline in biodiversity, an increase in human pressure on natural and semi-natural ecosystems, and no significant changes in the rate of biodiversity loss (Butchart et al., 2010). A number of global organizations (e.g., WSSD of Johannesburg, Convention on Biological Diversity, International Panel on Biodiversity, and Ecosystem Services, UN Environment Programme, and UN Development Programme) are strongly advocating concrete efforts toward biodiversity conservation

Abstract
A recent assessment of progress toward achieving the 2010 targets of the Convention on Biological Diversity concluded that most indicators showed a decline in biodiversity, an increase in human pressure on natural and semi-natural ecosystems, and no significant changes in the rate of biodiversity loss (Butchart et al., 2010). A number of global organizations (e.g., WSSD of Johannesburg, Convention on Biological Diversity, International Panel on Biodiversity, and Ecosystem Services, UN Environment Programme, and UN Development Programme) are strongly advocating concrete efforts toward biodiversity conservationFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
