This research focused on the development of a molecular assay, based on the amplification of 11 simple sequence repeats, that is useful to combine varietal identification with skin color discrimination of less-colored/colorless mutants from a black wild-type cultivar (like Pinots). The proposed molecular toolkit was reliable using both purified and unpurified DNA obtained from leaves, thereby speeding up the time required for laboratory analyses and lowering the costs of the molecular outcome

Abstract

This research focused on the development of a molecular assay, based on the amplification of 11 simple sequence repeats, that is useful to combine varietal identification with skin color discrimination of less-colored/colorless mutants from a black wild-type cultivar (like Pinots). The proposed molecular toolkit was reliable using both purified and unpurified DNA obtained from leaves, thereby speeding up the time required for laboratory analyses and lowering the costs of the molecular outcome
